About This Release

As the house rhythm section for Mintons Playhouse in Harlem and in the studio for Blue Note Records, pianist Horace Parlan, bassist George Tucker, and drummer Al Harewood frequently made jazz history in the early-60s. This June 18, 1961 session adds tenor saxophonist Booker Ervin, a frequent associate, and guitarist Grant Green, and the result is one of Parlans most soulful and successful albums. This Rudy Van Gelder-remastered edition marks the first American release of this album on CD with an additional alternate take.
