About Us

Mills Record Company is a woman-owned, independent record store in the heart of Kansas City’s Westport neighborhood. Since opening in 2013, we’ve been a zero-judgment zone where first-time vinyl buyers and lifelong crate diggers shop side by side.

Housed in an enormous 6,000+ sq ft historic building, we’re famous for our vinyl selection, including new releases, must-have reissues, rarities, box sets, and bargain gems in our $3, $4, $5 section. In addition to vinyl, we buy, sell, and trade CDs and cassettes—because great music comes in many formats. If it’s your first visit, we’re always happy to show you around or help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

We host in-store events regularly, including listening parties that bring people together over great records and free swag. If you’re lucky, you might catch sight of our shop dog, Conway Twitty, napping under the stacks.

So, whether you’re chasing your holy grail or just browsing on a whim, we’re here to help you find your next favorite record.

In-store pickup orders typically take 3–7 days to arrive; we’ll call you when they’re ready.
