Greetings from your favorite locally-owned record store! Between our visits to pumpkin patches and corn mazes we've had time to put together some exciting events for you. Let's jump right into it:
Last week we told you that we're hosting aFlorence + The Machinelistening party for "Everybody Scream." That'll be on Saturday, November 1 at 4pm so come dressed in your Halloween best — we’ll have special prizes for our favorite costumes and swag for everyone.
This week we can announce that we're doing aPRE-RELEASE listening party forHayley Williams' upcoming album “Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party." Come join us Wednesday, November 5 at 5pm where we'll be listening to the full album, giving out posters and wristbands, and giving away an exclusive mixtape CD signed by Hayley. You'll even get to buy a physical copy ofEDAABPwith a free tote bag — two whole days before the official release date.
More information on both events is up now on our Instagram, where we’re also posting updates about Record Store Day Black Friday. Give us a follow to stay in the loop — and now, let’s talk about a few of the great new releases hitting the shelves tomorrow.
The reviews are in andEarl Sweatshirt’s new album "Live Laugh Love" is a bonafide hit. The album folds sharp, introspective rhymes into murky, minimalist production that ignores boundaries. It’s dense, personal, and totally hypnotic — another chapter in one of hip-hop’s most quietly fearless catalogs. Available on indie exclusive black-and-orange crush vinyl,CD,and cassette.
And speaking of ignoring boundaries, at the height of his fame,Mac Millerdetoured to record his jazz-inflected lounge project dubbedLarry Lovestein & the Velvet Revival. On "You," he channels classic swing and late-night romance, wrapping smoky horns and brushed drums around smooth, late-night vocals. It’s a playful exploration and a revealing one — available now on 10" vinyl for the first time.
We're thrilled that so many of you have pre-ordered the newBrandi Carlilerecord. You've got great taste! "Returning to Myself" finds Brandi at her most open-hearted — a luminous record about reflection, resilience, and rediscovering joy. Her voice soars over warm acoustic textures, reminding us why she remains one of the defining songwriters of her generation. Available on indie exclusive pink vinyl and signedCD.
Demi Lovatodials up the synths and returns to her dance-pop roots on "It’s Not That Deep." After several albums that leaned heavily into rock, Lovato has described this album as a reflection of her current stage in life, focusing on joy and celebration rather than deep emotional themes. Sounds good to us! Pressed on indie exclusive ivory vinyl signed by the artist.
Sometimes change is overrated.Kacey Musgraves’ "Pageant Material" turns ten, and this glittery gold pressing reminds us why it became a modern classic. Smart, self-aware country-pop that balances wit and warmth — still twinkling with charm and grace a decade later.
Our Under-$30 bargain of the week is the debut fromAJR. 2015's "Living Room" contains the trio’s early experiments with sample-heavy pop and bright hooks that still sound inventive and bold — proof that theirDIYspirit was there from day one. Repressed on bone/black splatter vinyl.
Looking for a bigger kick? Let us introduce you toMachine Girl's "PsychoWarrior (MG Ultra X)." This 2xLP set is an explosive mix of punk chaos, digital noise, and adrenalized rhythm. It’s aggressive and ecstatic — a full-body experience for anyone who likes their electronics unhinged and their energy off the charts. Grab the indie exclusive galaxy-opaque vinyl or CD before they vanish.
Even bigger? Brutal and apocalyptic,The Acacia Strain’s "You Are Safe From God Here" is a sledgehammer of an album — loaded with hardcore breakdowns, death metal fury, and strange sludgy beauty all buried under layers of noise. Available on appropriately wild hot-dog-colored vinyl.
Here's two reissues that everyone has been waiting for: Industrial iconsMinistryshare new heavyweight 180-gram versions of "The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste" and "Psalm 69." These are cornerstones of aggressive industrial rock — mechanical, confrontational, and still absolutely vital. Revisit these masterpieces or dive into them for the first time.
If you're just looking to rock out then we'd suggest two new reissues fromStone Temple PilotsandThe Pretty Reckless.STP’s self-titled 2010 album is a confident late-era statement that bridged their ’90s heft with sleek melodic rock. And The Pretty Reckless celebrate ten years of "Going to Hell" with a deluxe coffee table edition pairing a hardback photo book with a plum-purple LP — a striking snapshot of grit and glamor from their breakout era. Are you ready to rock?
Finally, although the calendar still says October, we've already received one of the most unexpected and beloved holiday duets in pop history —Bing CrosbyandDavid Bowie’s "Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy." This perennial favorite returns on picture disc to remind us just how campy, charming, and weirdly moving it is that these two icons found harmony across generations.
All of these and so much more are hitting the racks tomorrow morning so stop in see what's new.
