Right off the rock, I see Inhabitants play live. I like. Then again, I'm minimalist rock guy and that's how the band comes sounding. A somehow gothic simple beat & strum. Eric sings as if to a blue screen, like to no one really, yet to me he croons, grins and charms. Kevin hits the drums with some strange animal fluidity. Come to find he mostly does improv rock, but w/ Inhabitants his beats are sure and surprising with little rushes and runs like thunder from a great distance. Bassman Pat brings the smooth groove and has a chill about him like from an earlier era of this music I love. Adam on guitar. Cranking and picking melodies in a mid-range, then up high and sparkling. They all sing, laying out spooky pop harmonies like honey running down the windshield at dusk - something like that. First impression leads me to great Stranglers don't think they're around anymore. Inhabitants band tight, shaven, a smooth transition. They all met around the bars and loft parties of Brookly and the e.Village. Been playing together over a year or more now. Finally gonna press they're e.p. and do some touring. Pat just bought a van. I've seen pictures. A true landshark w/ an appetite for the highway that's right up there w/ this bands need to hit the road and never look back. They'll play some shows real soon I'm sure. Did their version of Roky Ericksons If You Have Ghosts at their last gig wicked sweeet! Also, they got some new songs they'll probably play that I really want to hear cause it feels like everything is sparking nicely. I feel that when I see them, and better every time. Now what, where, when do they play again? After they release this first Inhabitants record, We Have Always Been Here Before, they'll probably have to.
