Now that we're starting to settle into the new year, the new releases are picking up a bit. There's plenty of stuff to be excited about this week, especially for metal fans. Legendary Norwegian black metal band MAYHEM is releasing a loaded 4xLP/3x10" box-set featuring tons of previously out-of-print and unreleased material. We've also got single reissues of the Ordo Ad Chao(2007) andChimera(2004) LP's. There's also a chunk of recent Immortal reissues hitting the floor this week, too.
The kind folks at Polyvinyl records have decided to issue Kero Kero Bonito's 2018 art pop excursionTime 'n' Placeon wax, and we'll have that along with fresh reissues ofBonito Generationand theTotepEPavailable for sale. New music from Matt & Kim and Magic Sword sweetens the deal. Check out the full list below!
This week also brought tons of great new arrivals. We've got great restocks in new and used vinyl, of course, but also a particularly juicy selection of books and new CD's to peruse. Seriously, we've got multiple boxes of great new CD titles all priced $7.99 and under. Stock up for that new Walkman you got for Xmas!
One goal we have for 2019 is to bring you even more killer in-store events than we have in the past, and I gotta say, we're off to a pretty good start. We've actually gotthreein-stores lined up for the the next week or so. It starts with local teen rockers Quite Frankly on Friday at 6 pm. Next Thursday (Jan 17th), we'll be hosting poet Shayla Lawson for a reading and conversation. Her 2018 collection,I Think I'm Ready to See Frank Oceanis quite fantastic and I think you should buy it. Local poet Jermaine Thompson will also read! Reading starts at 6 pm.
Then, next Saturday (Jan 19th), local singer-songwriter Chloe Jacobson will be here to celebrate the release of her new recordFrozen Fruit(out via Manor Records!) Chloe will be joined by Daniel Gum and Budget Motel. Music kicks off at 6. All events free and all ages, as always!
Lastly, a reminder that we're always looking to buy your old records, tapes, CDs, and band shirts. Really, if it's got to do with music, we're interested. Bring us your stuff and let's make a deal! Can always offer cash and/or store credit.
