New Releases 07 December 2018

The Struts - Young & Dangerous - Interscope

British glam-rockers The Struts return with their sophomore album, Young & Dangerous, four years after the release of their debut. Having recently wrapped up a tour with the Foo Fighters and announced their own headlining tour, the band now releases an album that proves it has no intention of slowing down. Pulling from influences like Queen, The Killers and The Strokes, Young & Dangerous showcases how The Struts have developed as a band and begun to carve out their own place.

The Hold Steady - Stay Positive - Vagrant

Vinyl LP pressing. The Hold Steady's fourth album Stay Positive (2008) served as an excellent progression for the best bar band in indie rock and featured a much more adventurous sound to which the group credits producer John Agnello who also helmed their 2006 breakthrough release, Boys And Girls In America. The album sees the band include more diverse instrumentation alongside their bar-room rock, including mandolin, harpsichord, strings and horns. SingerCraig Finn defined Stay Positive as an album, musically and lyrically, about the attempt to age gracefully. The band's gift for literate, anthemic songwriting finds a new focus Finn calls more musical, more dynamic, different instrumentation, more complex arrangements and not always hiding behind raw volume.

LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out - Def Jam

Artist and illustrator Tim Bradstreet reimagines The Punisher on the cover of this Marvel variant hip-hop cover, paying homage to LL Cool J’s fan-favorite, Mama Said Knock You Out. The record, released in 1990 via Def Jam Records, was mostly produced by Marley Marl and eventually was certified double Platinum by the RIAA. Its title song nabbed LL the Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1992 Grammy Awards. Released on opaque red vinyl.
