God's Country

Vinyl: $24.98 UNAVAILABLE
There's a sick irony to how a country that extols rhetoric of individual freedom, in the same gasp, has no problem commodifying human life as if it were meat to feed the insatiable hunger of capitalism. If this is American nihilism taken to it's absolute zenith, then God's Country, the first full length record from Oklahoma City noise rock quartet Chat Pile is the aural embodiment of such a concept.

Before "2: drew the world's eyes to Canadian crooner Mac DeMarco, the spark was heard sooner on the debut EP Rock and Roll Night Club. Demarco has been the antithesis to the stereotypical singer-songwriter for the past decade. Disregarding the seriously somber moments on Rock and Roll Night Club, he refuels throughout with whimsical moments and youthful spontaneity whilst retaining the endearing and subtle commentaries that exude his familiarity. His most impressive trait is his undeniable and instinctual ability to compose magical pop jangles. His dusted jams have garnished him accolades that are ever increasing alongside his discography; his sound rendering wide comparisons, but in a nomadic fashion, alluding no distinct origin except for Mac himself. The 10th anniversary pressing of Rock and Roll Night Club compiles all 12 original recordings - including bonus tracks "Only You" and "Me and Mine" - pressed on limited edition Night Club vinyl, with brand new liners written by DeMarco reflecting on his time writing and recording what would become the world's introduction to one of indie's most influential songwriters.

When Heart Shaped World was released in the summer of 1989, it peaked at number 149 on the Billboard 200. In October 1990, Lee Chesnut, music director of WAPW in Atlanta, played the song "Wicked Game" repeatedly over two weeks after hearing a version on the soundtrack from the 1990 David Lynch film Wild at Heart. "Wicked Game" was released as a single, and the album reached the U.S. Top 10 peaking at number 7 on Billboard by April 1991, garnering sales of more than 500,000 copies.

The first completely original Primus music in over a decade comes in the form of a 3 song 12". It kicks off with 12 minute epic "Conspiranoia" exploring the absurdity and darkness bubbling up in the contemporary world - perpetuated, as frontman Les Claypool says, "by anyone with a slight hint of web design aptitude." Claypool goes on to say: "Because all 3 songs were bred in an odd time of divide, confusion, angst, frustration, and social senility, the title 'Conspiranoid' seemed appropriate."

The fifth solo album from Craig Finn.
Craig Finn is a Minnesota-bred singer/songwriter based in New York City, best known as the singer of The Hold Steady. Finn spent the ’90's leading Minneapolis indie band Lifter Puller, which released 3 albums and an EP.  After relocating to New York, he joined with Lifter Puller member Tad Kubler to form The Hold Steady in 2003.  The Hold Steady quickly achieved critical acclaim and a worldwide fanbase with their unique pairing of dense lyrical narratives with big rock guitars.  The Hold Steady has released eight LPs, including Open Door Policy in February 2021.  Finn released his first solo album in 2012 with three additional solo LPs put forth since 2015 - Faith in the Future, We All Want The Same Things, and 2019's I Need a New War - which coalesced into a sign-of-the-times musical trilogy.  Finn’s debut book “I Can’t Keep Saying Thank You”, a collection of his song lyrics, was also released in 2019.  A double album of b-sides/outtakes All These Perfect Crosses was released in 2021 accompanied by a limited edition graphic novel/comic book.  Pitchfork has described Finn as “a born storyteller, who has chosen rock as his medium.”

When performing his solo material live, Craig Finn is joined by a dynamic group of musicians called The Uptown Controllers.

180gm vinyl LP pressing. Widely recognized as King Diamond's solo masterpiece, Abigail is also unquestionably one of heavy metal's greatest concept albums. A passion for dark-themed theatrics had always qualified the work of the man formerly known as Kim Bendix Petersen before this release, and yet his band's debut from two years prior had merely hinted at the conceptual ambitions yet to come.

David Bowie

Earthling: 2021 Remaster [LP]

Vinyl: $34.98 UNAVAILABLE
Earthling (2021 Remaster) - Earthling is the twentieth studio album by David Bowie released in February 1997 via Virgin Records, later reissued on BMG Records. This was the first album Bowie self-produced since his 1974 album Diamond Dogs. Bowie's 1970s experiments in dance music, art-rock and other space-age pop forms helped lay the groundwork for modern styles like ambient and techno and here he comes full circle picking styles and ideas from those he heavily influenced.

Toy was recorded following David's Glastonbury 2000 performance. Bowie entered the studio with his band to record new interpretations of songs he'd first recorded from 1964-1971. The plan was to record the album "old school" with the band playing live, choose the best takes and then release it as soon as humanly possible. Unfortunately, in 2001 the concept of the "surprise drop" album release and the technology to support it were still quite a few years off, making it impossible to release Toy at the time.

In the cyber-drenched 1990s, David Bowie once again proves himself ahead of the game. Outside is more a monumental collage of techno-war coldness than a mere album. Bowie combines the most essential pieces of each of his previous personas and musical styles to make Outside into an all-too-dense song-cycle with a story-line.

The late, great Michael Nesmith always travelled to the beat of a "Different Drum" - whether as the writer of that classic hit for Linda Ronstadt and The Stone Poneys, the wool hat-clad member of The Monkees, or one of the earliest progenitors of the country-rock genre. Now, in the sizeable wake of Nesmith's recent passing, Real Gone Music and Second Disc Records are proud to honor his legacy with a major deep dive into the Nez archives. Different Drum: The Lost RCA Victor Recordings features 22 tracks drawn from the RCA Victor vaults, every one of which is previously unreleased on vinyl. Over six RCA albums released between 1970 and 1973, Nesmith blossomed as a singer, songwriter, bandleader, and producer under the aegis of RCA Nashville legends Chet Atkins and Felton Jarvis. With bandmates including legendary pedal steel guitarist O.J. "Red" Rhodes, John Ware, and John London, Nesmith pioneered country-rock with a spiritual and searching style all his own. Different Drum premieres on record some of his most remarkable musical explorations from this vivid period including cosmic reimaginings of Monkees-era favorites like "Tapioca Tundra," "Magnolia Simms," "Circle Sky," and "Listen to the Band;" unheard outtakes like "American Airman" and "Six Days on the Road;" vastly different alternate takes of "Different Drum," "Dedicated Friend," and "Tengo Amore;" and even an early version of "Marie's Theme" from his cult classic multimedia project The Prison. The mind-altering music on Different Drum has been mixed from the original multitracks by Andrew Sandoval and mastered by Vic Anesini at Sony's Battery Studios, while Papa Nez himself contributed insightful commentary to the liner notes by The Second Disc's Joe Marchese, who also pens a poignant appreciation of the creative, generous soul that was Michael Nesmith. A gorgeous gatefold jacket housing two LPs pressed in "blue smoke" vinyl and a four-page insert presenting rare photos by renowned photographer Henry Diltz round out this landmark package. Different Drum is a freewheeling, widescreen journey through the world of one of rock's greatest and most beloved iconoclasts. Don't take our word for it: listen to the band!

Gavin Degraw

Chariot

Vinyl: $32.99 Buy

Limited teal colored vinyl LP pressing. This prodigiously talented piano man came out of the New York club scene with a brash, rocking sound that drew obvious comparisons to Billy Joel and Elton John, but some more contemporary touches also brought peers like Rufus Wainwright, Jeff Buckley and J label-mates Maroon 5 to mind. It's an artful blend-leavened with a little classic R&B-that clicked commercially, as Gavin's 2003 debut album Chariot went Platinum and spawned several hit singles including the Top Ten hit (and One Tree Hill theme song) "I Don't Want to Be."

Britny Fox

Bite Down Hard

Vinyl: $28.99 UNAVAILABLE

MP3 Album: $9.99 Download

Limited brown splatter vinyl LP pressing. For their third album (fourth if you count the debut EP In America), Britny Fox ditched Dizzy Dean Davidson and brought in Tommy Paris on vocals, joining ex-Cinderella guitarist Michael Kelly Smith and ex-Waysted drummer Johnny Dee along with the estimable Billy Childs on bass. Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde and Poison drummer Rikki Rockett joined the party, too... this 1991 record is another one of those really good glam-metal albums (check their cover of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band's "Midnight Moses") that got neverminded by the early '90s grunge craze. It also fell victim to the early '90s embrace of the compact disc format; Bite Down Hard only came out on vinyl in Europe, and if you want to buy one of those copies, it will indeed take a bite out of your budget.
