Sun Ra, the extraordinary, outlandish, and sometimes controversial pianist, is often described as an "acquired taste", with a massive and diverse catalog. This release is a good place to start for uninitiated or dismissive listeners. The album showcases Ra's grounding in the jazz tradition, with unique takes on standards like "Time After Time," "Easy to Love," and "But Not for Me". Not unordinary for Sun Ra, the recording process was informal; "Can This Be Love?" was recorded in his Chicago apartment in 1955; he is accompanied only by the great Wilbur Ware on bass. The other five tracks, which feature, among others, Ra's longtime associate John Gilmore on tenor saxophone, were recorded at the Choreographer's Workshop rehearsal space in 1962 and 1963.

Sun Records Does Hank Williams is a collection of Hank Williams hits performed by artists from the legendary Sun Record Company catalog. The compilation features superstars Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis, alongside a handful of lesser-known Sun Records artists.

Released on the heels of her critically acclaimed 2018 album, With the Sun, Sunny War's new album finds her a little bit older, a little bit more mature, but looking back on the rocky roads of her past with a surprising amount of nostalgia. Shell of a Girl, coming August 23, 2019 on Hen House Studios with vinyl released by ORG Music, was written in a burst of creativity in Los Angeles, and marks a new transition period, with Sunny moving from the Venice Beach Boardwalk, where she first made her name, to the streets of downtown Los Angeles.

Recording again at Hen House Studios on Venice Beach with producer Harlan Steinberger and her musical collaborators Micah Nelson (Particle Kid), Aroyn Davis, Milo Gonzalez, Tato Melgar, Lesterfari Simbarashe, and Edith Crash rounding out the cast, Sunny moves freely between musical genres, anchored by her virtuosic, self-taught fingerstyle guitar work. Playing on a temperamental Guild acoustic guitar, that she's named Big Baby for it's tendency to squall and feedback, Sunny's guitar work is as dazzling as ever, notes cascading out of the guitar in Art Tatumish flourishes.

T.S.O.L.'s fourth studio album, Revenge, is now in its 30th year. What better way to commemorate the 30th anniversary than to bring the record back to vinyl? Originally issued on Enigma Records in 1986, the album has now been out of press for decades. This limited edition reissue is being made exclusively for Record Store Day Black Friday 2016.

It was originally released on Taylor's own Unit Core label, subsequently more widely released on the Freedom label, and has received critical praise, including a 4/5 star review from the Rolling Stone Jazz Record Guide. Previously out of print for decades, the phenomenal work is finally coming back to vinyl with an audiophile-grade pressing from Pallas Group. Sister Rosetta Tharpe was the first great recording star of gospel music and among the first gospel musicians to appeal to rhythm-and-blues and rock-and-roll audiences, later being referred to as "the original soul sister" and "the godmother of rock and roll". This live recording from 1960 had never been on vinyl, until now, a whole 57 years later. The set has plenty of variety, lots of sincere feeling, and high levels of musicianship from the unique performer. Highlights include "He's Got the Whole World In His Hands," "Didn't It Rain," "The Gospel Train" and "Down By the Riverside." The album was remastered for vinyl from analog tape and pressed at Pallas Group in Germany.

(2-LP set) Odyssey stands as James Blood Ulmer's signature masterpiece, the purest and most accessible showcase for his bold, genre-clashing guitar vision. With minimal trio accompaniment - only drummer Warren Benbow and violinist Charles Burnham - Ulmer's guitar is always the meat of the ensemble, especially since his unique tuning (developed for this album) allows him to cover bass parts as well as guitar leads. Odyssey finally gets the audiophile treatment it deserves, in the form of a double LP, mastered at 45RPM from original analog tapes by Bernie Grundman, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, and housed in Stoughton case-wrapped jacket.

Vinyl LP pressing. Unknown Instructors is an all-star outfit featuring the former rhythm section of Minutemen and Firehose, bassist Mike Watt and drummer George Hurley, with poet Dan McGuire. Dinosaur Jr guitarist J Mascis was recruited for this their fourth effort, Unwilling To Explain following 2009's Funland. The album is the group's first recording which was not entirely improvised. They seamlessly blend flavors of jazz, punk rock, spoken word, noise, and art rock for a truly unique listening experience. Unwilling To Explain was mastered by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering and pressed on audiophile-grade vinyl at Pallas Group in Germany.

Velvert Turner is largely known for being a prot�g� and student of Jimi Hendrix, who he met as a teenager in New York in the late �60s. The influence is immediately clear, with respect to both Turner�s guitar work and vocals. Some have even mistaken his only album for a "lost" Hendrix recording, and it�s hard to blame them. Velvert Turner Group�s self-titled 1972 release, which aptly closes with a tribute to Hendrix (a cover of �Freedom�), has been out of print for decades. Now it�s coming back to vinyl with a color pressing, mastered from original analog tapes, exclusively for RSD Black Friday.

Formed in Vallejo, California in the 1950's, The Viscaynes were a high school doo-wop act who are said to be the first recorded singing group of Sylvester Stewart (aka Sly Stone), and the launching point of his extensive career. The group gained some early notoriety with a performance on Dick Stewart's Dance Party, after which they were introduced to producer George Motola. Charting on KYA radio's top 60 chart in 1961, "Yellow Moon" became a hit song for The Viscaynes, though they split up around the time of the song's popularity. "The Viscaynes & Friends" is the first official full-length release from the group, coming to light only after a master tape reel was discovered more than half a century since the group disbanded. The release features seven tracks from Sly and The Viscaynes, along with one cut from the The Individuals and two from The Precisions, all of which were produced by Motola. The vinyl release comes in a gatefold jacket with extensive liner notes from author, historian, and radio host Rickey Vincent.

Gold Night is the follow up to The Vitals' 2012 debut album, Qualia. After spending time on the road, showcasing at SXSW, and continuing their strong California presence, the band worked on their sophomore effort in their hometown of Los Angeles. Recorded almost entirely live in the studio, Gold Night showcases The Vitals' raw sound that fans are treated to at their dynamic live shows.

Mike Watt�s second album features Nels Cline on guitar and Stephen Hodges on drums. The album is finally receiving its first ever vinyl pressing with this double LP, a full 20 years after the album�s release. Pressed on�two 180gram vinyl LPs, featuring three full sides of music, and a custom vinyl etching on the 4th side. In an effort to judge Mike Watt's third opera on it's own merits, one may try to put aside everything he has done over his career. Twenty-six years after the Minutemen's landmark DOUBLE NICKELS ON THE DIME, Watt returns to the familiar punk and jazz influenced sound he and his band made famous. This time, it's more refined and more mature without lacking any of the energy or urgency of yesteryear. HYPHENATED-MAN features thirty songs in 47 minutes with Watt on bass, his deep baritone singing melodies and reciting spoken word while the Missingmen (Raul Morales and Tom Watson) wail on drums and guitar. Add to all of this a special redrawn cover by legendary artist Raymond Pettibon and you've got an album worthy of the history that led up to it.

This truly incredible performance has been underappreciated throughout the years, in part because it had not been pressed in nearly three decades. Previously pressed on white color vinyl for Record Store Day 2016, Ben Webster's 'Gone With The Wind' will now be widely available on 180gram black vinyl. The performance took place at the legendary Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen during January of 1965, right in the prime of Webster's long European period.

W�rm was a sludge metal band started in 1973 by bass player Chuck Dukowski, who would later join Black Flag. Without W�rm, the genres of punk rock and hardcore would never have been the same. The band's practice space, the W�rmhole - �a hangout for musicians in Hermosa Beach during the mid-late 70's - is where Keith Morris and Greg Ginn met Dukowski and ultimately formed the original Black Flag line-up. The band's only album, Feast, was released in 1985 after the band's demise. With the help of Chuck Dukowski, the long-out-of-print LP is being "exhumed" and reissued, along with a second LP featuring unreleased tracks, demos, and more. The package comes complete with retrospective liner notes from Dukowski himself, plus never-before-seen photos from the early days. Originally released in 1958 on Sun Records, Johnny Cash's second album was a smash success, with singles such as "I Walk The Line", "Guess Things Happen That Way", and "Ballad of a Teenage Queen" shooting to the top of the charts and earning Cash a reputation as one of country's greatest songwriters and performers. The Man In Black is accompanied by Luther Perkins and Marshall Grant, known at the time as The Tennessee Two. The album was produced by Sun Records founder, Sam Phillips, and Jack Clement.

The very first known instance of the famed trumpeter playing in an "open" style, and in a band with legendary tenor saxophonist Gene Ammons and drummer Art Blakey. Need any more be said?
