New Releases for the Week of 10/22
Here is what we’re putting out on the shelves this week:
2 Chainz B.O.A.T.S. II#MEtime – The former Playaz Circle member returns with his sophomore 2xLP, featuring a lead single collaboration with Pharrell (The Neptunes/N.E.R.D.).
AFI Burials – The California punk-goth band with some of the most ardent followers in the biz returns with their 9th studio album (2xLP). Davey Havok and crew were assisted this time by heavy hitter producer Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters).
Best Coast Fade Away EP – The faded out beach-pop group returns with their much anticipated follow up to 2010′s left field breakthrough Crazy For You. This time they’re on their own label and working with big time producer Jon Brion (Fiona Apple, Kanye).
Boards of Canada Campfire Headphase, Geogaddi, Music Has the Right to Children – These three separate reissues from the Scottish electronic duo BoC, cover the band’s initial studio LPs from the late 90s and early 00s (including their acclaimed full length debut Music…)
Four Tet Beautiful Rewind - The seventh LP from Four Tet (aka Kieran Hebden) has been described as a streamlined affair lacking some of the marketing/production pomp and circumstance of prior releases. Expect no frills electronic post-rock.
Ezra Furman Day of the Dog - New Wave/punk singer songwriter Furman sounds angrier and more ragged on his newest LP.
Haim Days Are Gone – The 2xLP debut from California’s sun-kissed trio of sisters is finally here. The harmonies and slick 70s pop instincts are well honed as Haim becomes the latest indie buzz band to immediately cross over into the mainstream.
Heavenly Beat Prominence – Beach Fossils bassist John Pena’s follow up to 2012′s Talent is more electro-pop under the moniker Heavenly Beat.
Matthew E. White Outer Face EP - A limited edition EP featuring more of the genre-bending (folk/gospel/R&B) we’ve come to expect from Virginia’s White.
Mind & Matter 1514 Oliver Avenue (Basement) – Unreleased basement demos from Jimmy Jam Harris and his 11 piece ensemble, a 70s Minneapolis contemporary of Prince that loved warm, vintage electric piano and plenty of danceable rhythm.
Pearl Jam Lightning Bolt – The alterna godfathers return with their tenth studio album and first in four years. As with prior release Backspacer, they’re working with Brendan O’Brien again this time around as producer.
Ryan Hemsworth Guilt Trips – The young Canadian hip-hop and R&B producer continues his prolific output of sonic experimentation.
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts Unvarnished – The rock goddess returns with her vet backing band and a collection of famous collaborators (Laura Jane Grace, Dave Grohl) on the group’s first release in seven years.
King Crimson Larks’ Tongues in Aspic – The legendary 70s prog rockers continue their series of Robert Fripp approved reissues with this 1973 cut from the vaults.
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yelstin Pershing - Springfield MO’s favorite indie rock group reissue their second LP on 180 gram gold vinyl.
Polica Shulamith - This is the second full length release from Polica (of Minneapolis’s Gayngs collective) which shares members with Bon Iver and is an integral part of the current Twin Cities scene.
The Strawberry Alarm Clock The World in a Sea Shell – Vinyl reissue of early work from 60s pop-hippies famous for “Incense and Peppermints.”
